The ERO 375 uses three different filters that work together to filter water and deliver a high quality drinking water.
The first filter, often referred to as the “pre filter” removes the the largest particles from the water. Those include sediment, chlorine taste, odor and particulates.
The second filter is a semi-permeable membrane. This filter uses extremely small pores to filter out finer particles. Water is pushed through at a high pressure which effectively removes a high percentage of all dissolved solids.
The third filter, often referred to as a “post filter” has an activated carbon design. This is a very common type of water fitler because activated carbon has a large surface area and is capable of filtering immense amount of water before needing to be replaced. However, the ERO 375 uses this filter slightly differently than other systems.
After leaving the semi-permeable membrane, water actually flows directly to the storage tank. When you activate the faucet, only then does water flow out of the tank and through the third filter. This ensures the freshest taste possible.
Both the pre and post filter will need to be changed every 650 gallons, which means about every 6 months for most homes. The semi-permeable membrane is rated for 36 months.
All the filters have been certified by NSF (The Public Health and Safety Organization) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) by standards 42 and 58. This means that the filters have been tested and proven to work effectively.
While the ERO 375 is good choice for a home water filter, you should be aware that it’s not as effective at filtering out some compounds as other filters. For example, the ERO 375 is rated to filter “some” chlorine, while other systems on the market filter anywhere from 97 to 99% of chlorine.
